#Listening to Bwarouz, a 2002 album by Danyèl Waro, a maloya musician from the island of La Réunion;

It reminds me a bit of afrobeat and the berimbau music that accompanies capoeira. A good warm up for WOMAD this weekend.
@strypey This is the first album by Danyèl Waro that I bought! It was in 2007, I had left Reunion Island to go to France for my studies. I listened to the first track in the music store, and the first beats of the roulèr literally made me cry. It was the beginning of my long journey to (re)discover my culture and #maloya.

That's an awesome story. I stumbled on Danyèl Waro's music by pure serendipity, and it immediately grabbed me. Definitely keen to hear more maloya artists. Any recommendations?
@strypey Yeah, sure! Just to name a few: Zanmari Baré, Tiloun, Christine Salem, Davy Sicard, Ann O'Aro, Kréolokoz.
Thanks a lot @ah! I just finished working at WOMAD and didn't see as much music as I would have liked, so it I'll look them up.
