It really is long past time I figured out how to back up anything mission critical on my Android, factory reset it, and rebuild my digital office. Because as soon as I finish getting an up-to-date OS onto my PinePhone, I want to move as much of my day-to-day mobile computing to that as possible.

@strypey potentially might make sense to use a remote service – like Nextcloud – as a compatibility layer of sorts? To synchronize files, calendar data, etc.

I've been trying, but seems to take a bit of tinkering to get it all working reliably. I got online years before I owned my own computer, let alone carrying one around in my pocket, so organising my computing to be device independent is a reflex. It's just that Android is designed to make it hard to sync with anything other than Goggle services. Still working out the details.

@strypey @rysiek i use nextcloud calendar and contacts sync from android and it works great, the app integrates with the structure file access apis so all modern apps can use it very easily

Once you know how to set it all up and keep it working, I'm sure it works fine. I haven't had spoons for that yet.
