The saddest thing about this global Microsoft Windows calamity is that almost no one is going to learn the *right* lessons. That's because they're all so completely invested in doing things the wrong way. *Right* lessons:
- monocultures are extremely bad
- outsourcing core business systems is eventual suicide
- successful (i.e. monopoly) proprietary business models as almost always structurally misaligned with customer interests
- any sort of dependence on Microsoft is utter folly
