> And here is the wearable keyboard you attach to it

Epic! How do I get one?

@strypey

ha 🙂
yay. i put you on the list.
As soon as it is done.
It might take a few more month before becoming really ready, but will ping you 😁

...also, i got a baby some weeks ago, so that might slow down progress a bit more, but still, i am eager to get it done. With the baby it is hard to work on a laptop, but having this keyboard and AR glasses woyld make it easier again 😊

@serapath
> i put you on the list

Hang on, this is something you created yourself? Great work!

> i got a baby some weeks ago, so that might slow down progress a bit more

Yeah, avoiding its parents and the cops might keep you pretty busy : P

But seriously, congratulations!

> having this keyboard and AR glasses would make it easier again

Maybe this is beyond the scale of your ambition, but a combo package of PinePhone, dock, wearable keyboard and AR glasses, would be so Neuromancer!

@strypey

I have a "Zendure Powertank" (28600 mAh) battery - the biggest capacity allowed on airplanes.

I currently use a "Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra" (with 1 TB disk and 12GB RAM). Samsung phones have "Samsung DEX", which essentially allows you to connect it to a smart TV or external monitor (such as AR glasses) to project a linux desktop where you can install vscode, browsers, terminal commands, etc... and work.

The "Rokid Max" and the "Xreal One Pro" are definitely what i have in mind.

@strypey

This gives me:
1. enough power while mobile
2. a strong compute device
3. a great mobile visual display

...all would be great, if it would not lack mouse/keyboard input, hence - in 2016 i started working on a solution and was always hoping somebody will build it so i can just buy it, but under enshittifying capitalism, nobody is of course up to the task.

Hence here we are, 8 years later - and i paid some money and had some free help along the way and thats the current results.

@strypey

So definitely not me alone. I did the initial prototyping work and this helped me to inspire some more professional DIY keyboard builders to get involved and a lot of brainstorming and collaboration later, this is where it is currently at :-)

@strypey

I am a full time nomad and have no real home and if you therefor cant invest into a big screen and comfy office chair, because you keep moving, and especially if you love the outdoors, then ideally you have a solution that finally enables me to stop exercising my profession in a sedentary health destroying style, life could finally be great.

Its a shame it already takes 8 years since i started. Luckily mobile compute and even AR glasses got a lot better since then as well 😃

@serapath
> I am a full time nomad

Ah, this explains why you've evaded detection with that baby : P

But seriously, how does this go with parenthood? Do the whole family nomad with you?

@strypey yes.
my partner works with me. we opened a UK Ltd. and work through this. we can write invoices.

she is on mastodon too @ninabreznik 😊

@serapath
> I am a full time nomad and have no real home

I did not know that before. How does a new baby fit in with that? Or how do you nomads fit in with the new baby?

(@strypey asked the same question while I was posting mine...)

@bhaugen @strypey

we will see. for now the baby doesnt need much.
food is always with us.
nappies can be bought anywhere.
we got a mobile changing mat from osprey...
we got a carrier/sling to "wear" the baby on our body ...what else do you need?

our little girl is just ~12 weeks old, so eh... i guess the rest has to be figured out when we get there 🙂

@serapath
Hope all goes well and the little girl enjoys her experience. Been awhile since I had a baby but I do remember that's when I became an adult myself. They are an education.

@strypey

@bhaugen @strypey

she is the coolest 😁

the last few nappies where clean. every time we change nappies we hold her over a potty and now she keeps everything until she is abovw the pottyn so nappy stays quite dry most of the times now .... even though she is only 12 weeks.

wasnt planned, but i guess offering her the potty consistently and she knowing that it gets uncomfortable in her nappy otherwise, she seemed to have figured out this strategy 😂

@serapath
That is very cool! At 12 weeks! Well done, baby!

@strypey

@serapath
What is her name? She looks ready to rock and roll!

@strypey

@bhaugen
> Been awhile since I had a baby but I do remember that's when I became an adult myself

Same! I recently became a grandpa, which gives you some idea of how long it's been since my baby was born ; ) I did spend some time caring for one of my nephews as a baby, but even that was about a decade ago.
