After watching the recent Brave New World series, rereading this tech journalist's account of trying to live without any Amazon-run service for a week is only more disturbing. Especially the dependence already engineered into her 1 year old. Huxley was right about the convergence of state and corporate power, but it turns out our "soma" is not chemical but digital:
