Like Apple's longstanding ban on copyleft licensed software on iThings, this is an example of why software freedom matters. Without the freedom to decide what apps (and app sources) to use on the devices we own, tech corporations can use their power over our devices to quietly impose their power on us. Eg limit our access to media that might criticize their business practices, or otherwise threaten their short-term financial interests.
