I guess I'm going on a rant again. Strap in.

People who make fun of #Linux users who don't appreciate #Microsoft's recent embracing of Linux on cloud and desktop are missing the point in a very disheartening way. We don't want Linux, we want a #FreeDesktop.


@tindall hear, hear. Other corporations have embraced "desktop Linux", leading to locked-down spying devices like . If you stretch the definition of "desktop" to mean "end user UI", Android is "desktop Linux". None of that has been good for user freedom. It just allows those corporations to outsource their back-end development to open source communities, and put the lion's share of their dev resources into the proprietary front-end they run on top of those communities' work.
