This is why we can't have nice things. I loved that character. Small-minded assholes are taking this away from us (and harassing a woman doing a great job).

@uliwitness you've raised two issues here. 1) social media harassment of actress for her role in a movie. Totally unacceptable. Not making excuses for that in any way when I raise issue 2.

@uliwitness 2) Like Holdo, Rose is a badly written ill-fitting, and arguably surplus character, in any already busy story. I welcome #StarWars having more female (and non-white) characters, but I'd to see them being active protagonists, with story arcs that cover whole trilogies, rather than being awkwardly shoe-horned in mid-flow

@uliwitness why couldn't Rose's sister survive the bombing run (why have bombers at all if they're always suicide missions?), and be the one who catches Finn? Then it would make sense that she's a kick-arse pilot. Why couldn't Maz Kanata have an active role, rather than just dialling in some exposition like a cut scene from a video game? There are so many examples of the female characters being badly served by all the new #StarWars scripts

@uliwitness Here's another one; why couldn't Leia have done everything Holdo did, instead of spending most of the movie in Sleeping Beauty mode? Speaking of Holdo, if she knew she could destroy the First Order fleet by flying one of the bigger ships into it, why didn't she suggest moving everyone to the 2 fastest big ships and fly the other one into the fleet as soon as she realized they'd been following through hyperspace?
