Is Chromium better than Chrome in terms of privacy, good defaults and not feeding Google any data?

Because Chrome is closed source, nobody can be sure what Google's doing in there that Chromium doesn't do. Whatever it is, it doesn't add features, so you can be sure it's bad. Chromium is still bad, without extensive configuration. Even though it's "open source", it's a google product and it's configured to give them a surveillance advantage. There are a _lot_ of settings to change, plugins to install. It's much, much safer to use Firefox.

@cathal @Tryphon From my extensive recent survey, done out of personal desperation, albeit by a non-leet comprehension, I must emphatically second this. And even FF requires a lot of weeding to be up to snuff.
