Ok, this is very exciting for me - the idea of mega-corporate employees starting a #FOSS project on principle... and then *leaving* the corporate to foster the community because the community's interests were no long aligned with the corporate's. https://trino.io/blog/2022/08/02/leaving-facebook-meta-best-for-trino.html We need a LOT more of this.
@shoeberto good to hear it! I'd never previously heard of the trino project, so I still have to investigate it, but I like the principled reasoning behind the split from Meta/FB. Keen to see more communities make similar moves away from their corporate (dis/en)ablers.
@lightweight ❤️ trino, the fork was sorta frustrating at first because of the confusion between products but it's a great tool and great community. It makes me so happy to see the project thriving.
