Public schools in NZ are struggling to meet the new costs of IT. Much of that is because they're procuring almost entirely the wrong software and hardware, and are receiving ill-informed guidance from their ministry. I believe they could vastly reduce their costs while vastly increasing their educational value:

@lightweight there was an NZ school that tried to go with libre software a few years ago. Do you know how that went?

@duncan_lithgow there were two - Warrington and Albany Highschool. Sadly, the champions went away, and the schools reverted to disempowering, expensive, low trust, US multinational corporate domination. Very sad.

The fact they're also answering the wrong questions doesn't help.
