Remember folks, Catherine Beard has colossal vested interests - she' s CEO of the organisation tasked with ensuring that *nothing changes* that might affect the profits of NZ exporters and multinational corporations operating in NZ... https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/farming/115466121/emissions-landscape-not-as-clearcut-as-tech-firms-good-farmers-bad In my experience, she's pretty disingenuous and not interested in the best interests of NZ. She's looking after a very tiny subset who pay her salary: the 1%.
Put it another way - Catherine Beard is effectively chief lobbyist on behalf of those commercial entities with the most to lose (profit-wise) if NZers decide that it's important to make them bear the real costs of their production.
Currently, NZ society, and oue future generations, are subsidising those unsustainable businesses so they can continue polluting in order to maintain the illusion they're profitable. Many (perhaps most) are not. They should be shut down.
