I suspect one of the most important missing components for most people's experience of the "tech revolution" is a sense of control and empowerment... The propensity for people to divest responsibility for the tech that has become so central to our lives is truly frightening. But, as with informed voters in democracies, savvy tech users aren't what the power brokers really want. They prefer sheeple they can manipulate and exploit. And, from a tech perspective, they've largely achieved that.
